Continuing the highly successful series from last year, Katherine Weiss has scheduled two new dates for the The Samuel Beckett Early Career Scholars Initiative for the coming semester. The initiative, which was established to share information and create a newtwork of support to all Beckett scholars in the early stages of their research and career, has proved enormously beneficial to those who attended its workshps.

The first seminar is titled: Academic Job Market: ‘All this business of a labor to accomplish …’ and will take place on Sept. 24th, 2024 @ 6:30 PM (London Time Zone). In this session, Laura Salisbury (Exeter U), Pascale Sardin (Bordeaux-Montaigne U) and Katherine Weiss (Cal State U, Los Angeles) will share their insights and tips on landing an academic position. The perspectives will cover the UK, Europe and American academic job markets.

Attendance is open and free of charge but it is essential to sign up at this link: https://forms.office.com/r/HQdGQvZnuj?origin=lprLink. A Zoom link will be sent to participants the day before the workshop.

On November 26, a session on dissertation writing will be held titled: The Dissertation: ‘Finished, it’s finished, nearly finished, it must be nearly finished.’ Ryan McHale (Florida State U), Candan Kızılgöl Özdemir (TOBB ETÜ) and Ros Maprayil (Reading U) will share their insights on maneuvering through and finishing the dissertation.
